touched the earth
Driving down the road, we phoned dad on speaker to let him know we were on the way home. After we hung up, I led the children in thankfulness for their dad. “We have such a wonderful daddy. I have the best husband ever. Someday, you boys will grow up to be a loving husband to your wife and a great daddy too. How exciting!”
One little man continued…
“And we have the best mom ever. I’m sure glad God put me in this family. I’m glad I touched this earth. I like came out of my mom and touched the earth. I think I said, “I’m glad I came to touch earth and be here” when I came out. I’m glad my mom didn’t have me sucked out. I love my family.”
As you can imagine, I had a mommy smile, and a brief laugh. But with all seriousness, I was blessed to hear my little man embrace the sanctity of life.
In my postpartum state, with thoughts of fertility dancing in my head – it was a blessing to hear my son be thankful for the life he is given.
Last year, in discussing what type of missionary our friend’s Daddy is with CompassCare, I had explained abortion to my kiddos. It was not an easy conversation. We discussed how Mr. H is a missionary to women who are pregnant. These women are told and believe lies (from society and the Enemy) about the baby inside their bodies. Lies such as: they can’t mother their baby, how will they take care of it?, what would their parents say?, that it isn’t really a life until it’s born or x-weeks gestation, and many more.
Over a year later, my son’s tender heart manifested the truth of the sanctity of life. As I tucked myself into bed that night, I pondered his words. How thankful am I that I “touched this earth”? Humbly I asked the Lord for forgiveness for preventing and rejecting the gift of babies and life within my womb, in my past. I thanked God that Tucker touched the earth, regardless of the pain, or his unexpected, quick, and tragic departure. I prayed about our future child bearing. I thanked the Lord for His perfect plans, will, and sovereignty over LIFE.
“Little-almost-big-man, I am glad you touched this earth too!” – Love, Mommy.
I am blessed by these scriptures from the Pro-Life Forum:
Deuteronomy 30:15-20, “See, I set before you today life and prosperity, death and destruction. For I command you today to love the Lord your God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commands, decrees and laws; then you will live and increase , and the Lord your God will bless you in the land your are entering to possess. . . .This day I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live and that you may love the Lord your God, listen to his voice and hold fast to him. For the Lord is your life, and he will give you many years in the land he swore to give to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.” (God commands us to choose life.)
Psalm 139:13-16, “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.” (God is involved in the formation of human life from the moment of conception to the day one dies.)
